Susan Boyle is officially a worldwide phenomenon. After breaking the record for the fastest-selling debut album in U.K. history, Boyle has conquered American shores as well with I Dreamed a Dream.

With more than 700,000 in sales, according to Columbia Records, Dream will not only claim the biggest debut of 2009 in the U.S. when it charts next week — beating out the 608,000 for Eminem’s Relapse but will also earn Boyle the highest debut ever for a female solo artist on the Billboard 200 in the SoundScan era. The previous record was held by Ashanti’s self-titled 2002 debut, which sold 503,000 in its first week. Hot Deals on Popular New Releases at Amazon.com

Since its release last week, Boyle’s album has sold almost 3 million copies worldwide and hit the #1 spot in Australia, Ireland, Canada and New Zealand. By the time of its official release, it had also become the biggest pre-order in the history of the Amazon.com music store and, according to Columbia, broken pre-sales records on QVC and Barnes & Noble online.

Boyle’s mentor and “Britain’s Got Talent” judge Simon Cowell congratulated his charge on her global success in a statement. “I’m incredibly proud of Susan and delighted for her,” he said. “This success couldn’t have happened to a more deserving person. Susan Boyle quite simply has broken the rules. Her story is like a Hollywood movie, but this time it’s real life and a really talented, nice lady who has won.” Dream features a mix of Boyle’s signature covers of “I Dreamed a Dream” and “Cry Me a River,” as well as versions of the Rolling Stones’ “Wild Horses,” the Madonna tune “You’ll See,” the Monkees’ “Daydream Believer,” hymns “How Great Thou Art” and “Amazing Grace,” the Christmas standard “Silent Night” and one original song written for Boyle, “Who I Was Born to Be.”

She is the United Kingdom’s latest phenomenon. Her performances have taken the world by surprise sine she first auditioned on the British airwave popular celebrity want-to-be competition in ‘Britain’s Got Talent’. Dreams Do Come True for Susan Boyle and she didn’t even come in first place on the show.

However the usually extremely critical Simon Cowell knows a true talent when he sees one and he promised to help Susan along the way to her new found star status. Miss Boyle exemplifies just that. She has become famous in her own right.

There is something special about Susan Boyle’s rise to fame. It is the “under-dog” making good that appeal to so many people around the world. She has fan clubs that sprung up in support of her immense talent and yes her personality.

Why did Susan Boyle’s Album, I Dreamed a Dream, beats Amazon’s pre-ordered sales records?

Calendar Posted: July 26th, 2010 | Author Author: The Man | Catorgories Catorgories: "twitter Trends"

Why did Susan Boyle’s Album, I Dreamed a Dream, beats Amazon’s pre-ordered sales records?

This Sunday I watched the news on our Spanish television, and a headline with a short report came up. “Susan Boyle’s debut CD sets Amazon pre-ordered sales record”. I do not recall to have heard Susan sing any song for the  Album, I Dreamed a Dream, in the trailer, but I remembered a picture of the “woman”; …”ugly” even a little “silly” looking, with a terrible haircut and hairy eyebrows. My first thought was that I had seen Susan Boyle’s mother’s images and not the artist herself.

Before I continue, I may first introduce myself a little. I am German (excusing my deficient English), living in Spain, married to a lovely Spanish woman and father of a wonderful 14 years old teenager Yes! A Teenager, but still wonderful!). I am working all day and have little time to watch television. As I never had heard the name Susan Boyle, I asked my daughter whether she knew anything about Susan and her new Album, I Dreamed a Dream.

She looked at me with this cynical look of hers, like saying “Pa you are living behind the moon”, and replied “You have not heard of Susan Boyle? …Really? … O.k. She is a singer from the English TV realty show ‘Britain’s Got Talent’. The show is similar to the Spanish equivalent ‘Operacion Triunfo’. She was the sensation!”   “And why that?” I replied. Again, she looked at me with this cynical expression, slightly shaking her head, about to continue, but then changed her mind and simply said. “That’s a surprise Pa. If you want to know more, then have a look on internet. It’s worthwhile!”

Looking at her smiling face and knowing my teenager daughter, it was very clear that she would not tell mi a single word more about Susan Boyle’s “sensational” performance in the Britain’s Got Talent show.  I would have to research for myself. I asked her whether the “woman” on the TV had been Susan Boyle, and she nodded, confirming the “impossible”.

Now I was completely intrigued and headed directly to my PC. When I looked “Susan Boil” up in Yahoo there was nothing. I thought, “Well, Susan Boil can’t be that important if I can’t find her name in yahoo”.  Then I tried Google and got the hint “Did you mean ‘Susan Boyle’?”. Oooops! Google was right, and I am ignorant!  There were pages and pages of search results for Susan Boyle, including pictures of this “sensational” woman. Also the title of Susan’s new (debut) album, I Dreamed a Dream, was al over the place. An album that has not even been published! Dreamed a Dream, will be published officially on November 22nd.

One of the first entries was the YouTube video titled “Susan Boyle – Singer – Britains Got Talent 2009 (With Lyrics)”. That lookes interesting, click and go…

The video loaded in high definition mode. The first images, Susan, sitting in the back, having a big bite into her sandwich, in a way that it seemed as if she wanted to eat it all in one go, including the tips of her fingers. Then a few backstage sequences of Susan with the final phrase “I’m gone a make that audience rock!” What a statement! This woman, “uglier” than I recalled, dressed according to the rest of her appearance, what would make her performance so “sensational”? Was this “show” of self esteeming just a bluff? Either Susan was totally “nuts”, or …I don’t know what to say….

The following sequences are amazing; Susan walks onto the stage with all her pride and courage, exposing herself to the humiliation and desperation that will follow, without doubt. Asked about where she comes from gets stuck, but very naturally finds her way out; then, asked about her age, 47, shows a wonderful sense of humour with her peculiar “belly dance”. You can tell that she is enjoying her “Dream”! Susan Boyle has nothing to loose, and she is living this moment that will never come back.

Flashes of people’s faces and expressions, ranging from pain through amusement and laughing to incredibility make me feel glad for her that she is not able to see those expressions from her spot far up on the stage, against the blinding lights.  I would have run away, that’s for sure!

But Susan stays! No doubting seems to overcome our brave Susan Boyle. Asked about who she would like to be successful as, Susan, without shame, but rather convinced, names a famous star. No need to describe the expressions on the crowds faces.

Then Susan begins… singing her song, “I Dreamed a Dream”… Within seconds the whole atmosphere changes. Her voice seems to embrace all.  The peoples faces first freeze, but then quickly warm up and astounding and joy is everywhere. The audience is applauding enthusiastically, screaming and giving standing ovations. The crowd “rocks”! …Susan Boyle has fulfilled her Dream. Finished her song, she sends a kiss to her audience, turns around and is about to leave the stage (as if she did not want to spoil this memory of her dream), but the jury calls her back. Susan turns around and with firm steps takes her spot on the stage again, awaiting what is about to come.

No need to say that she had passed the exam with outstanding results.

Amanda defines very well the crowd, and myself. “I know that everybody was against you. We were all being very cynical, and this has been the biggest wakeup call ever…”

Simon describes Susan I with one clear phrase; “Susan, you are a little Tiger, aren’t you?” Yes! Susan Boyle is a Tiger, and not one of the small kinds. I am trying to imagine how much she had to fight against herself and all the odds, but Susan did not give up! She finally managed to live the dream she dreamed.

Now, while I am writing this small article, I take a small break and watch Susan Boyle’s first performance again. The same happens to me as when I saw her yesterday. Tears are rolling down my chicks. She definitely has stroke my heart, this small, ugly tiger!

On Sunday, November 21, 2009, there were 77,023,361 views of Susan’s YouTube video “Susan Boyle – Singer – Britains Got Talent 2009 (With Lyrics)”. How many tears and joy may this 7:07 minutes have given the world? How many talented people may there be out there that have not had the chance to live the dream they dreamed or did not even dare to dream?

So, …Why did Susan Boyle’s Album, I Dreamed a Dream, beat Amazon’s pre-ordered sales records?
I went to amazon.co.uk and found already 50 very positive reviews on Susan’s unpublished debut Album; I then listened to the trailers of the 12 songs onthe Album titled,… guess what!… “I Dreamed a Dream”.  The reviews were very positive and I like a lot the songs, but nothing convinced me more than the moment I enjoyed together with Susan, when she lived her Dream.

P.S. Today is Monday, November 22nd, and I am curious to see how many albums of Susan Boyle’s “I Dreamed a Dream” are still available on Amazon. I first go to Amazon.co.uk and, no surprise, only 6 CD’s left. I then go to Amazon.com and find another 13 Albums. My wife calls me for lunch, and I return an hour later. Now all “I Dreamed a Dream” CD’s are gone! I missed my chance :-( . This would have been a wonderful gift for my wife (and myself ;-) ).

I will have to wait until Susan Boyle’s Album is on stock again. But there is a handy website that will alert me immediately for any product on Amazon when it returns into stock again. In case you’re interested, you may want to have a look at the site http://www.mygiftalert.com. You never know when you may need it ;-) , Christmas time is close!

The Susan Boyle Lesson

The Susan Boyle Lesson

Now the whole world knows who Susan Boyle is, a forty-seven year old woman who spent her life living with her mother and her cats (until her mother recently passed away). She sang karaoke at local pubs though her dream was to be a professional singer.

When she walked on stage during the Britain’s Got Talent show, the audience laughed, the judges were cynical. Why? Because she looked like a forty-seven year old spinster. When she responded to a question saying she had never been married and never been kissed, the audience laughed some more. They didn’t expect much from this outcast.

No one was prepared for what came next. She shocked everyone with her spectacular rendition of  ‘I Dreamed a Dream’. The audience was stunned and moved to tears. She’s become an overnight sensation, her video on You Tube being viewed over eleven million times.

Susan Boyle is the reason you should never judge a book by its cover.

We’re being bombarded with beautiful people on television, in movies, magazines and music videos.  As a result we’re being programmed to judge people based on their looks, leaving us feeling less than perfect and worse, inadequate.

There’s much talk about racism and prejudice. Prejudice against Blacks, Hispanics, Muslims and gays; but there is another kind of prejudice that occurs everyday, ‘Looksism’.  All of us witness it and sadly, many are guilty of it.

Most are unaware they’re doing it. For example, how many times have you seen an obese person eating ice-cream and think to yourself or say to someone else, “No wonder they’re the size they are.” You cast judgment never knowing the medical or emotional issues that have caused them to be the size they are. Given a choice do you think they would choose to live that way or opt to live life as one of the beautiful people?

Have you ever passed a teenager on the street who had piercings or tattoos, and you turned the other way, labeling them a freak? My son is the kindest most caring person you could ever know. He’s had a Mohawk cut; he’s shaved his head and dyed his long hair black. He has a tattoo and wants another. Nothing he does to alter his appearance on the outside will ever change the wonderful guy he is, but it will change how others perceive him and sadly the way he’s treated.

I dated a guy who was shorter than me with a stocky build. I’m the girl who when asked to pick the sexiest man, named Ed Asner. (Remember, Mary Tyler Moore?)  My boyfriend was a kind, loving guy with an incredible sense of humour, which attracted me more than anything.

One day we were walking hand in hand when two teenage girls passed by.  I heard one say, “What is she doing with him?”  It sickened me. She had no clue who he was, all that registered was he wasn’t the stereotypical tall, dark and handsome guy. I could have felt sorry for him, but I felt sorry for her. If she was going to go through life judging people by appearance alone, she was going to miss out on a lot of great people. And what if something happened to change her looks? What then?  Would it mean she didn’t deserve to be loved?

Take a look around when you’re shopping or sitting in restaurants. Take notice of how clerks and waiters treat people differently. It’s annoying to say the least. I’ve seen clerks be cold to one customer and then ‘turn it on’ for others, based only on looks.

This behaviour starts when we’re young. Think back to your childhood days in school. Bullies picked on the fat kids, skinny kids, the poor who couldn’t dress as well, kids that wore glasses or had big ears.  Bullying was almost always based on outward appearances.

What can we do to stop this unspoken prejudice? A good place to start is in your own home. Teach your child there’s more to them and others than their looks. Focus on their talents and skills and the kind of person they are. Teach them to defend the underdog when bullying takes place.

Lead by example. Don’t judge others. Embrace people for who they are. Who knows how many Susan Boyles slipped through the cracks because they appeared less than beautiful so their talents went unnoticed. Had Boyle looked like Angelina Jolie, she would have been discovered earlier and the world would have been enjoying her music all these years.

So do yourself, and the world a favour, look beyond the  ‘looks’ next time you meet someone. Susan Boyle was a diamond in the rough waiting to be discovered, and there are millions just like her.

See with your heart, not just your eyes, and be amazed at the wonderful people who come into your life.

Susan Boyle The Phenonmenon – Odds of Winning

It is safe to say that Susan Boyle has captured the attention of the world. After her April 11th 2009 success on the UK television show, “Britain’s Got Talent”, Susan and her unforgettable voice have moved many who heard her sing to tears. The world, the judges and the audience were thoroughly surprised upon hearing her sing, as they had not expected to hear “the voice of an angel” come from someone who appeared to be so gauche and plain. Susan has shown the world that no one should prejudge another person based on their appearance, a lesson many of us seem to have forgotten.

Her rendition of “I Dreamed a Dream” from the musical Les Miserables has been viewed 100 million times as of April 20th on YouTube, said to be an online record for this web site. Her listening public includes Hollywood Stars Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore, who brought her to the attention of the Twitter world. Susan has become a popular figure with bookmakers as well. In fact, she has become one of the biggest certainties in the betting history of all reality television. Live betting odds abound, with online bookmakers giving odds of 2/5 showing her as a favourite to win the talent contest.

Global sensation Susan Boyle is a single woman from West Lothian, Scotland. Sources say that Susan’s birth was a difficult one, which caused her to be deprived of oxygen for a brief period. This perilous start in life is said to be the reason why she had learning difficulties in school. Cruel children teased her, calling her “Susie Simple”, but Boyle comforted herself by singing. Encouraged by her mother, Susan took singing lessons from a voice coach.

Unemployed except for a six-month stint as a trainee cook, Susan dedicated her life to caring for her elderly mother. She would sing at various local venues, including her church, where she is also a volunteer. Susan attended acting school, and in 1999 recorded “Cry Me a River” for a charity CD. Ms. Boyle also used all of her savings in 1999 to have a demo tape of her singing professionally cut. She sent the finished product to various record companies, local and national television stations, but got lost in the proverbial shuffle and never heard back from any of them.

Susan Boyle’s mother passed away at the age of 91 in 2007. Susan has said that her mother always wanted her to try out for “Britain’s Got Talent”, yet she did not feel compelled to do so until after her mother’s death. Seeking a musical career is Susan’s way of paying tribute to her mother. It has been reported that Susan is amazed at the world’s reaction to her talent.

In a world where so many people are focused on a person’s looks, almost at the exclusion of anything else be it talent or otherwise, Susan is a breath of fresh air. Her singing talent speaks for itself, and Susan’s rise from obscurity will continue to garner the world’s attention.

Your Home Based Business Success and the Story of Susan Boyle. Anything in Common?

Calendar Posted: July 23rd, 2010 | Author Author: The Man | Catorgories Catorgories: "twitter Trends"

Your Home Based Business Success and the Story of Susan Boyle. Anything in Common?

So what could your success in a home business possibly have in common with an innocuous singer named Susan Boyle? A lot; here you go…

In only three days times, and at the time of this writing, video clips of a singing performance by somebody named Susan Boyle – a completely unknown singer – have climbed to over 50 million views on YouTube. The woman has, without question, one of the sweetest, most angelic voices you’d ever hear. But that is only where the story begins.

She stood on the stage during the taping of a show from England called “Britain’s Got Talent”. She’s a frumpy woman with a messy hairdo which will remind you of a bird’s nest. Immediately, when you’re watching her stand there, just moments before her performance begins, there is only one thought going though your mind; you cannot help but think that she has been put on the stage for shock value.

You know how these “talent” shows operate. It’s obligatory that they include people in the lineup that entertain, not so much for their talent, but rather for their lack thereof. You couldn’t help but think Susan Boyle was on the show for that reason.

She seemed to have everything going against her. Her age; she is 47. If she had any talent, why hadn’t she already been discovered? Who did she want to be as successful as? Her answer: Elaine Paige – a woman know as “The First Lady of British Musical Theatre”. The crowd is cackling and making fun of her and the judges seem ready to try and get her off the stage sooner rather than later.

She had chosen to perform a song entitled “I Dreamed A Dream” from the play Les Miserables. A very difficult song to sing indeed. The music is cued; there she stands with microphone in hand. She opens her mouth to let out the first note of her performance; by the eighth note the crowd is cheering wildly and the judges are in shock. By the time she is finished singing the entire song, you’ve realized a star has just been born.

So what does the performance of Susan Boyle have to do with you building your successful home based Network Marketing business? Dig a little and you can find numerous similarities.

First and foremost, don’t ever let anyone tell you can’t do it. “Can’t” is word that subjugates losers and you are no loser. Don’t ever quit on yourself – you can do anything you put your mind to.

Secondly, It’s never too late to build a successful MLM business. There is no time frame on your success. Just as it made no difference to Susan Boyle that she is in her late 40′s, neither should it matter to you how old you are. It is never too late start and build your successful home business.

Thirdly, everything Susan Boyle had done in her life culminated into her moment on that stage. Singing in her church’s choir, singing around the house and at all other times when she was alone and let lyrics flow from her lungs – it all lead up to that moment. And this I think is the biggest lesson of all.

Your life is a sum total of your past. You will experience times of frustration where you feel as though you’re putting effort into building your business but there simply are no meaningful results to show for it. But you mustn’t give up. The day will come for you, as it had for Susan Boyle, where you will experience that break through. That time will only come provided you pursue it with passion and persistence and a refusal to quit.

Change and success can come in an instant. Your turn around from struggling entrepreneur to successful Network Marketer can arrive in a flash. And it will arrive if, and only if, you refuse to quit.

Do you understand? There really is no such thing as overnight success. What seems like overnight success has always been preceded by preparation. Sometimes years and years of preparation. And your preparation is what will enable you to also become an “overnight success”.

Finally, if you have not yet seen video clips of Susan Boyle’s performance, drop what you’re doing and go search them out on YouTube. You will be absolutely amazed at what you see and you’re sure to draw some inspiration from it too just as I have.
